Project Partners

The Tweed Kenya Mentoring Project is sustained through the generosity of project partners. These are:

Tweed Shire Council

Tweed Shire Council matches the annual amount donated to the program by Council staff, this equates to an allocation of approximately $18, 000 per year to the mentoring program.

The International Riverfoundation

International River Foundation

The International Riverfoundation is a dynamic, not-for-profit organisation committed to protecting the world’s rivers and waterways. Established in 2003, its membership comprises a number of like-minded companies, government organisations and senior water scientists who are dedicated to making a difference to the health of the worlds rivers, and in turn, the livelihoods of people who depend upon them.

The International Riverfoundation operates as a professional and transparent entity to manage the endowment of funds entrusted to it. It is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, registered under the corporations law and with the Federal Government as an environmental organisation. All donations to the IRF are tax deductible, and it is the partnership with IRF that gives the Tweed Kenya Mentoring Program its tax deductibility.

Kenya Health

Kenya Health
Kenya Health is an organisation dedicated to the provision of health care for women and young children in Kenya, although they will treat anyone who presents at their free clinics. Their aim is to provide medicine, medical treatment and education to help people achieve better health who would otherwise have very limited access to medical care. Kenya Health is a project of the Rotary Club of Mt Warning AM and is backed by the support of Rotary Australia World Community Services.

Triangle Waterquip

Triangle Waterquip
Triangle Waterquip (formally Triangle Filtration) was established in 1981 and is a technically based company that specialises in the design and supply of fully automatic self cleaning water filtration systems using the FILTAWORX® range of filters, which are made in Australia. These are used throughout the industrial, irrigation, municipal and mining sectors. Triangle has the equipment, experience and engineering expertise to enable them to source and supply suitable filtration equipment to suit a wide range of applications and needs.

A Triangle disk filter is currently installed at Gona Dam, with two more disk filters to be installed at Tinga and Ochillo Dams mid 2013 to help deliver fresh, reliable drinking water for the communities of western Kenya.

TKMP is seeking project partners who wish to see an improved quality of life for thousands of people in our area of operation. If you, your community group or association or company is able to assist, there are several ways you can become involved. To partner with the Tweed Community and existing Project Partners please contact either Tom Alletson or Troy Green at Tweed Shire Council.

Alternatively if you would like to support the program financially as a either regular contributor or ad-hoc donation, you may do so in the following ways.

Tax Deductibility

The Tweed Kenyan Mentoring Program funds are managed through the “International Riverfoundation Public Fund Account”. The International River Foundation is a registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible. Instructions on how to make a tax deductible gift are detailed in the TKMP Sponsors Document (11kB PDF).

Non Tax Deduction Donations

People wishing to contribute without tax deductibility can do so by either:

  • forwarding a cheque made payable to “The Kenyan Project” addressed to Tweed Kenyan Mentoring Program, C/- Tweed Shire Council, PO Box 816, MURWILLUMBAH, 2484.
  • making a direct deposit to Account Name: The Kenyan Project, Bank: CBA, BSB 062 580, Account Number: 1023 4650. To acknowledge your generosity, it would be appreciated if you could advise Council of details of your donation. This can be done by emailing tkmp@tweed.nsw.gov.au with a copy of your transfer receipt.
